| Greg Kufchak has pursued music his entire life. He actively composes, arranges, and conducts. Born in Akron, Ohio, he lived most of his adult life in Syracuse, New York, where he met and married his wife Charlotte, and they began their family. They have made their home in Westerville since 1997.
Their six children are all accomplished string players: two of them have performed in Carnegie Hall. Greg is a father who is well acquainted with the needs of string musicians and their instruments — beginners through professionals.
His recent musical accomplishments include writing an arrangement performed at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna in conjunction with Mozart’s 250th birthday celebration; receiving the 2006 John Ness Beck Foundation Second Place Recognition Award for an original composition; and writing an arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the opening ceremonies of the first national conference of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA). From 2003-2006 he completed three major CD productions of original compositions and arrangements for choir and chamber orchestra, with a fourth production planned for 2008.
Greg regularly takes an active and supportive role in music organizations and events throughout the Central Ohio area, and is an advocate for youth music education. Kufchak Strings is pleased to be a sponsor of the Ohio String Teachers Association Biennial Chamber Music Competition.
He has advanced his luthier studies with German Master Violinmaker Horst Kloss. |
